Festival X in 2019 went fully digital for over 100,000 fans

In late 2019, Ticketmaster and Festival X celebrated a milestone in Australia by delivering a 100% mobile-ticketed festival to 100,000 fans.

Inspired by the success of other 100% mobile ticketed Ticketmaster events around the world, Festival X provided seamless entry for 100,00 music fans, including 40,000 in Sydney, making it the biggest mobile ticket-only event in Australian history.

All inventory was sold via Ticketmaster using our mobile-only ticket service. Removing the physical ticket led to a significant reduction in ticket fraud cases traditionally quite high at dance and EDM events. Less than 100 cases of ticket fraud were presented at the Box Office.

The elimination of physical tickets also meant that any forgotten tickets were able to be instantly downloaded from the ticketholder’s Ticketmaster account.

“Ticketmaster’s digital ticketing solution gives fans an easy way to manage their tickets right from their mobile. The 100,000 fans that attended Festival X really embraced and welcomed such a convenient and user-friendly platform and we look forward to using it across more tours and festivals in 2020,” said Richie McNeill, Director of Hardware Presents (co-promoter of Festival X alongside Live Nation and Onelove).

Ticketmaster has seen the positive implementation of Mobile Tickets across various events throughout 2019, including U2’s national tour. All General Admission tickets across the tour were Mobile only, resulting in 72,000 Mobile Tickets scanned with no entry issues across.
