The Clipsal 500 is a round of the V8 Supercar Championship and is Australia’s largest domestic motor sport event. Adelaide first hosted the event in 1999 and since that time the Clipsal 500 has become known to motor racing fans as one of the most important weekends on Australia’s motor racing calendar.
Massive crowds flock to the Clipsal 500 each year with the four-day 2015 event attracting more than 285,000 fans, including in excess of 93,000 on Sunday, the main race day. The 2015 event was held from February 26 until March 1 and Ticketmaster will commence ticketing services for the Clipsal 500 at the 2016 race event.
Ticketmaster and the South Australian Motor Sport Board, which manages and operates the Clipsal 500 event, have entered into an initial two-year partnership that will see Ticketmaster provide ticketing services for the 2016 and 2017 events.
As well as providing services for general admission and reserved seat ticketing, Ticketmaster will operate the on-site box office and administer the Clipsal 500’s Pole Position members club.
Over the past 12 months Ticketmaster has conducted a major push to re-establish its office in South Australia in order to provide the local market with the best in live entertainment and ticketing. In a short time, Ticketmaster has been able to add many iconic venues and events to its stable of SA partners.
The Clipsal 500 is the latest in a line of partners who have joined Ticketmaster, which also includes the Thebarton Theatre, an iconic venue that hosts concerts and entertainment events, Adelaide Arena, home of the NBL’s Adelaide 36ers and WNBL’s Adelaide Lightning, and Netball SA Stadium, where the Adelaide Thunderbirds play their ANZ Championship home matches.
The partnership between Ticketmaster and the Clipsal 500 is an obvious fit given our extensive experience providing ticketing services for motor sport events around Australia. Ticketmaster is the exclusive ticketing partner of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, which manages the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix as well as the Australian MotoGP at Phillip Island.
Ticketmaster will also provide ticketing services for the 2015 Australian FIM Speedway Grand Prix, which will be hosted at Etihad Stadium in October.
