New For ’19 is a list of local acts the Ticketmaster team tips for big things over the coming months, and it forms the foundations for Ticketmaster’s New Music push in 2019.

In Australia, the ten artists have been separated into two categories: Break Out and Break Through.

The Break Out category focuses on fresh up and comers, those artists who started generating initial buzz across 2018 and are in the growth stages of their musical careers. Those artists are: A Swayze & The Ghosts, Bugs, Erthlings, Genesis Owusu, and Luboku.

The Break Through artists are those a little further on in their careers, these are the future headliners who will, this year, be taking the step from selling out bandrooms like Howler, Oxford Art Factory, or The Foundry to headlining some of the country’s most iconic venues such as The Forum, Big Top, or The Tivoli. These artists are: Eves Karydas, Kaiit, Kian, Kwame, and Ruby Fields.

“It’s important for us to be able to support artists at every stage of their careers,” says Gloria Brancatisano, Ticketmaster’s Content Manager and Blog Editor.

“From artists like Erthlings who haven’t even finished high school yet and only have a couple of singles released or Bugs who have been honing their craft in smaller bandrooms for years and have recently really made a break for it, all the way to the likes of Kaiit and Kwame who are ready to take their music internationally – we want to give them exposure in any way we can.

“Our teams are at the forefront of the industry, and as music lovers they have their ears to the ground when it comes to who is the next big thing, we want to share those artists with the world.”

Kane Kete, Ticketmaster’s Artist Services Manager says, “Ticketmaster’s New For campaign is a way for us to give local acts new audiences, not just in their home markets but also internationally.

“By creating online features via profiles or interviews, or by filming live sessions, we can promote this engaging and unique content across Ticketmaster channels in 21 markets around the world. It’s one of the many ways that our Artist Services division can really support and develop artist careers.”

Ruby-Jean McCabe of Bluebeard Music Company (who look after local bands including Bugs) also speaks highly of the initiative. “New For 19 is an incredible initiative providing emerging and semi-established bands a platform to be exposed to audiences that may not have ever thought to listen, watch, or engage with that artist. Creating a supportive, collaborative, and non-competitive environment for Australian artists is extremely important and this is exactly what Ticketmaster is cultivating with this program.”

In New Zealand, the ten spotlight artists have all been on the move throughout 2018 and set themselves up for a huge 12 months to come – from touring overseas, to releasing much talked about albums, these are the best up and coming artists from right around Aotearoa. These artists are: Bene, Chelsea Jade, Estere, High Hoops, JessB, Marlin’s Dreaming, Robinson, Teeks, The Beths, and Yoko-Zuna.
